Summary: When Belphie's most prized possession is stolen, all of his brothers lend a helping hand and catch the culprits responsible. Beel is just happy to see his twin smiling at the end of it all.

Beel’s eyes widen as he reads the text that just pinged his phone. He passes the ball to another teammate and leaves the gymnasium immediately, ignoring the shouting of his coach behind him. Students and faculty alike hurry to get out of his path as he barrels down the corridor at record speeds to reach the outer courtyard.

“Belphie!” he calls out to his brother. “Where are you?”

A short sob and sniffle catches his attention, and beneath the boughs of a gnarled tree, he spots his twin all huddled in on himself.

“I got your text and came as soon as I…” Beel’s deep voice trails off when he glimpses a tear streak his brother’s cheek. “What happened? Are you hurt or hungry?”

Belphie vehemently shakes his head. “I-I lost it.”

“Huh?” Beel frowns, confused. “You lost something? I can always get you another of whatever it is.”

“My pillow!” Belphie cries out, aggravated and exhausted. “The one I got for my first birthday after we fell to the Devildom…It’s gone.”

The one he got from Lucifer, Beel recalls with his frown tightening into a thin grimace across his lips. He longs to see the same smile that graced Belphie’s features when first given the pillow and he’d do everything within his power to stop those tears from falling. Calm down, Beel. Think.

“Where was the last place you had it?” he asks softly, moving to sit beside his brother so he can put his arm around his shoulders.

Belphie sniffs and instinctively curls into Beel’s side. “I was taking a nap underneath this tree and when I woke up, it was gone.”

Did someone take it? Beel wonders and sighs. “We should ask the others for help, then. Together, I‘m sure we can all find it.”

“Satan would be best,” Belphie murmurs and looks up at Beel with his eyes all puffy from crying. “I-I’m sorry if I worried you with that text, I…That pillow is my favorite.”

Beel stands with him but doesn’t let him go. He holds Belphie close and rubs his back while embracing him tightly, pressing his lips to the top of Belphie’s head to reassure him.

“I know how much it means to you.”

They find their elder brother in the school library with Leviathan during the midst of a tutoring session. Levi is the first to spot them coming towards them, and with the way Belphie is hanging off of Beel’s arm, he knows something happened.

“Hey, um,” Levi starts in an unsure tone. “Are you okay, Belphie? You look a little – “

Satan raises his finger to Levi’s lips to prevent him from saying something potentially insensitive, not that he means to, but they know nothing of their younger brother’s plight.

“What’s wrong?” he asks straightaway.

Beel glances down at his twin and pulls him in a little closer. “Belphie was taking a nap in the courtyard when someone stole his pillow. You know, the one that…”

“For fucking real?” Levi stammers and his expression falls. “That thing’s like sacred to Belphie! Why would anyone wanna take it?”

Satan stands from his chair along with Levi and they surround Belphie with support; Satan pats his shoulder and Levi starts to blubber himself, taking Belphie into his arms and going on about how he’d feel if someone stole his most prized Ruri-chan figure.

To everyone’s surprise, Belphie actually hugs him back and thanks him.

“So, the last place you had it was under the gnarled tree, right?” Satan asks while stroking his chin thoughtfully. “Do you recall anyone else in the area before you fell asleep? Or did someone besides Beel know you were going to be there?”

Belphie thinks for a moment and gasps with realization, “A group of succubus were bothering me about autographs or some crap while I was on my way to the courtyard, but I blew them off.”

Satan hums, “As surprising as it may seem, you do have quite the following among the female populace of the student body.”

“You think they took his pillow as payback for earlier?” Levi prompts, putting two-and-two together.

Beel’s free hand clenches into a tight fist. “Tell me what they looked like.”

“Now, Beel, calm down,” Satan urges him. “If these succubus did indeed steal Belphie’s most precious belonging then it simply wouldn’t be enough to take it back from them.”

Levi agrees, “We should teach them a lesson.”

A loud growl reverberates throughout the quiet of the library and Beel narrows his eyes. “As long as I can have them afterwards. I’m hungry.”

“I don’t think Lord Diavolo or Lucifer would approve of you devouring other students,” Satan mutters and sighs heavily again. “At any rate, I suggest we confer their identification with Asmo; he’s acquainted with just about every girl in the school.”

The proverbial rain cloud over Belphie’s head still doesn’t diminish and Beel can’t help feeling his pain. He simply shuffles after everyone once they start to leave the library, and he pauses to offer his twin a ride on his back instead.

“Sorry,” Belphie whispers into his ear as they plod down the hallway after Satan and Levi. “You missed your practice because of me, right? The coach will be mad at you, too.”

Beel smiles back at him. “You’re way more important.”

“You’re starving, too,” Belphie murmurs and his frown drags all the way across his face.

“And you’re really tired from all that crying,” Beel counters, hefting him up a little as he continues to follow their older brothers. “It doesn’t matter what I’m doing or how I feel, Belphie. When you’re in trouble, I’m gonna drop everything and help you.”

Belphie sighs and hugs his neck, burying his face into Beel’s shoulder blade as he does so. “I just wanna get my pillow back.”

Some see his twin as a spoiled brat, Beel knows, but he’s also aware of the fact that Belphie has difficulty expressing himself if he’s emotional at the time. It usually falls to Beel to interpret those emotions for the rest of the family and friends they encounter throughout the day. One certainly couldn’t tell just by looking at Belphie’s face, that is.

“Those girls?” asks Amso once they find him in the art room. “Yeah, I know them! Why?”

Satan leans in to whisper, “We suspect they may have stolen Belphie’s pillow while he was napping. They were begging for his attention earlier and he flat out rejected them.”

“What?” Asmo looks at his youngest brother, still hanging onto Beel’s back, and he feels a righteous fervor come over him like a waves of hot lava. “That’s a bitch move! Lucifer gave him that pillow!”

Suddenly, the temperature of the room seems to drop.

“What about me?”

They all turn to see their eldest brother standing in the doorway with Mammon as he holds him by the collar of his jacket, looking as unimpressed as ever.

“A group of succubus stole Belphie’s favorite pillow because he didn’t want to hang out with them!” Amso pipes up, still roiling with indignation as if it were his favorite item taken and not his brother’s. “We have to get it back.”

Lucifer’s eyes widen a bit. “That pillow?”

Beel nods grimly at him. “I found him crying in the courtyard.”

“D-Don’t tell him that!” Belphie protests and looks up from Beel’s shoulder, his eyes wet with tears and puffy from pining for his security item. He shrinks away from Lucifer’s gaze and hugs Beel’s neck even tighter as he murmurs, “Damn it.”

Lucifer’s attitude does a complete switch and he shoves Mammon towards the rest of the group. “I’ll forgo your punishment until we find the succubus in question.” He wags his finger and beckons to Beel. “You’re coming with me, Beel. The rest of you report to the council room. Lord Diavolo is waiting.”

“But – “

“It’s okay,” Beel assures his twin as he lets him down gently to the floor and hands him over to the care of his other brothers. “I’ll bring your pillow back. I promise.”

Levi starts sniffling again and pumps his fist in the air. “Let the noble quest begin!”

“They won’t be long,” Satan says softly and has his hands on Belphie’s shoulders, coaxing him away from Beel. “It’s just as important to them as it is to you. Right?”

Lucifer leaves the room with a flourish of his overcoat. “Come, Beel.”

“Smack ‘em once for me!” calls Amso after them, joining Satan and Belphie. He offers Belphie his handkerchief after noticing how dirty his face has gotten, and when Belphie tries to shy away from him, he insists, “I’ll be gentle, ‘kay? Just hold still a moment.”

In spite of losing his pillow, Belphie thinks, he doesn’t feel as hollow as he should when surrounded by his brothers all doting on him. Levi holds him hand while they walk down the hall, Asmo and Mammon won’t stop dissing the perpetrators, and Satan leads the way while occasionally looking over his shoulder with a smile to reassure him.

It’s enough to make a demon dizzy.

Once they reach the council room, Diavolo and Barbatos both have already been apprised of the situation. Tea and snacks are always a part of council meetings, but Barbatos goes out of his way to prepare something special for Belphie, and he appreciates the gesture. Diavolo, meanwhile, seems glued to his phone as he keeps in constant contact with Lucifer.

Thirty to forty minutes later, Lucifer and Beel make their entrance into the council room triumphant, and upon seeing his pillow in Beel’s arms, Belphie abandons his usual self-restraint and runs full sprint towards him.

“Thank you,” he murmurs into Beel’s broad chest as his twin sweeps him off his feet and holds him closer. “I thought I’d lost it for good.”

Beel affectionately noses through his fluffy hair and whispers, “Shouldn’t you thank him, too?”

“The students responsible have been given detention indefinitely,” Lucifer announces and flicks his wrist, tiny droplets of crimson spattering the archway nearby. “They’ll not be bothering Belphie or any other students again, I assure you.”

Belphie peers out from the comfortable confines of Beel’s school jacket to stare back at his eldest brother, catching his sharp gaze that immediately softens upon seeing him. “I, um…”

Lucifer smiles knowingly. “Yes?”

“Thanks,” Belphie mutters and hugs Beel tighter.

As Diavolo sits at the head of the table and calls everyone over with a cheery voice, Lucifer nods to his youngest brother in lieu of a response. His smile warms both the twins and conveys everything he needs to say.

“Beelzebub? Belphegor?” asks Diavolo, still trying to be sensitive to the situation. “Do you two need a moment?”

Beel looks at his twin for confirmation and smiles. “We’re fine.”

“Take your seats, then,” Lucifer says and gestures to the empty chairs across from his own. “Ah, and one more thing.”

Belphie looks as confused as the rest of them after Beel sets him down in a chair.

“I’m proud of the way you all handled this.”

All six of Lucifer’s younger brothers just grin at each other and nod to him. There isn’t an ill thought among any of them as the meeting finally comes to a head and begins.
